Here i show you how to install a trailer brake controller on a truck without stock wiring for a trailer brake controller the truck in this video is a 1989 ford f250. If the trailer wiring is running down the left side of the trailer then we splice the left side brake assemblies into the main electric brake power wire coming from the 7 way connector we then run a jumper wire from the electric brake power wire to the right side brake assemblies see photo. Trailer wiring connectors various connectors are available from four to seven pins that allow for the transfer of power for the lighting as well as auxiliary functions such as an electric trailer brake controller backup lights or a 12v power supply for a winch or interior trailer lights. This brake control installation was performed on a nissan titan pickup but your application will be similar itll probably be a lot similar on a true truck like a chevy or a ford but thats another conversation for another day the first step is to look under your dash to see if you see a plug labeled electric brake controller
